National GPS Clock Deployment

Project Overview

This project involved provision of installation services of a GPS clock source and integration of the source into critical hub sites in the 3GIS network in order to reduce drop call rates due to timing issues within network elements.

Working with CoverTel – a leading supplier of hardware to major carriers, we established an installation standard. The standard was initially approved by Telstra 3GIS management prior to the roll out commencing.

Our Solution

Both technical and rigging services were required. Firstly to install the clock source and integrate it with local environmental alarms and hub site multiplexer. Secondly a coax cable and antenna were required to be mounted so clear line of sight to GPS satellites could be established in order to supply timing source.
